Local Donations Aid Eccles Theater
2006-10-18
Wasatch Property Management investors listened to the concerns of the
Ellen Eccles Theater/Bullen Center and vowed to play a vital role in the
future success of this community treasure.
A $1 million permanent endowment donated by Wasatch Property Management
investors was presented Wed. Oct. 18 in the Logan City Council Chambers,
299 North Main Street, at 3 p.m. to Logan City Mayor Randy Watts.
Earnings from the endowment will fund the maintenance and operation
expenses of the Ellen Eccles Theater/Bullen Center as a permanent annual
payment.
Faced with the challenge of lower contributions from benefactor and
long-time sponsor Logan City, the Ellen Eccles Theater/Bullen Center
needs immediate and long-term financial support.
“We see the need for the community to step up their donations and
support, to not only sustain, but to help the theater flourish,” said
North Logan resident Dell Loy Hansen, CEO of Wasatch Property
Management, Inc.
Wasatch Property Management, a western United States real estate
owner/manager, is headquartered in Logan, Utah. Wasatch actively
supports the educational and cultural institutions of Cache Valley.
Logan City continues to be an important contributor to the operations of
the Ellen Eccles charitable-based theater. Yet, with the cost of
operating the city rising, Logan City Mayor Randy Watts and the Logan
City Council have voiced concerns about the difficulty of stretching
limited tax dollars to maintain roads, water and public infrastructure.
“We would like to help Logan City by taking a expanded share of the
theater’s maintenance as a permanent endowment to support operations.”
Hansen said.
This $1 million stock donation to the Wasatch-Logan Arts Foundation will
grow in value and annually donate the majority of its earnings to the
operational budget of the Ellen Eccles Theater.
A five-member Wasatch-Logan Arts Foundation Board of Directors will meet
quarterly.
