Wasatch News: Hayward Village
2006-09-13
If ever there was a good reason to grow older, the newly constructed
Hayward Village community is it.
Exclusively built for ages 55 and up, this gated apartment community
features one- and two-bedroom units with access to the nicest amenities
such as a spa, putting green, activity room, lobby, laundry room,
exercise equipment and a serene garden sitting area.
The property is also staffed with a friendly and professional team of
managers, groundskeepers and maintenance technicians.
Kip Sheppard, president of Wasatch Advantage Group, LLC, said he is
proud to be part of the finished product, which is an asset to Alameda
County in more than one way.
Government officials, who showed their support for Hayward Village by
authorizing the use of tax-exempt bonds for construction, will be
pleased, Sheppard predicted.
Hayward Village helps the county meet the ever-growing need for
affordable housing for seniors - by serving tenants with incomes within
50- to 60-percent of the area's median income.
The first occupants of Hayward Village will move in October 1 and an
Open House event will be scheduled in mid-November.
Sheppard said each of the community's 151 apartments will be available
on a first-come, first-served basis. More than 50 applications have
already been received from seniors interested in moving into the first
completed units. Owners expect a waiting list to grow as word about the
project spreads.
"There is already a lot of interest in this community," Sheppard said.
Hayward Village is conveniently located at 22078 Arbor Avenue close to
California's I-880 in Hayward.
Residents will benefit from the community's close proximity to the
downtown area as well as sites such as Hayward BART Station. A bus line
that runs nearby provides quick and convenient access to the public
transportation system.
